Susan Boyle Auditions For A Talent Show In 1995
Britain’s Got Talent wasn’t the first time Susan Boyle auditioned for a talent show it seems.
The Daily Record unearthed a home video shot of Susan Boyle auditioning for Michael Barrymore’s My Kind of People back in 1995. The audtion was held at the Olympia Shopping Centre in East Kilbride, and was caught on camcorder by the 18-year-old daughter of one of the other contestants. Michael Barrymore, a well-known comedian in the UK, mocked Ms. Boyle as she performed, and even attempted to look up her skirt as she sang. To Ms. Boyle’s credit, she kept on going without missing a note of the song.

Tom Bergeron Offers Advice To Susan Boyle
It seems everyone has some advice for Susan Boyle, including television hosts.
Tom Bergeron, the host of Dancing With the Stars in the United States, had an editorial in today’s the New York Times about how Susan Boyle, as he puts it, needs to “run away.” The reason for this is that he fears the inevitable backlash, which I have to agree with him has already started, where the people who were enthralled with her will begin to turn on her.
The kind of love she’s getting isn’t a tenth as genuine as her pussycat’s purr (and even Pebbles is mostly angling to get fed). We saw the eye-rolling in the audience moments before she performed. We heard the derisive wolf whistle. And then she sang, and the humbled audience sprang to their feet in sudden adoration.
[...]
Ms. Boyle’s experience seems to suggest that people are willing to overcome their prejudices and see the world anew. But those same people can turn back into snarky snobs just as easily. Some already have. Post goose-bumped pundits are speculating about a deliberate charade to increase ratings.
I have to agree with Mr. Bergeron, and I hope she is surrounded by good, loving, people who have known her from long before this fame came into her life. I’m not sure running away from it is the best solution, but just keeping her head on straight should help with a lot of the issues.

Susan Boyle Dyes Her Hair Brown
It appears Susan Boyle has now dyed her hair.
Today on Today, Hoda Kotb and Mario Lopez discussed just released photos of Susan Boyle that shows she has dyed her hair a deep brown. Add this to the eyebrow makeover from the other day, and you wonder how much further she will take the change to her looks. So far they aren’t too radical, and she does look better, but hopefully she won’t do anything too crazy in the near future.

Susan Boyle Sings “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”
It seems that Susan Boyle’s family is now digging through the home movies to see what they can find!
Mirror.co.uk has come into possession of a home movie shot 23 years ago of Ms. Boyle (then age 25) singing “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” from Jesus Christ Superstar at her parents 50th wedding anniversary. While the video image is a bit grainy, the audio is surprisingly clear, and only drops a bit in one section.
What I find interesting is the silence in the room. Gerry Boyle, Susan’s older brother is quoted in the article as saying:
It was a very emotional night. It goes quiet when Susan sings, it always does. She always has that effect.
So it seems she’s alwas had the ability to make people listen up when she sings. Good to know!

Susan Boyle On The Road To A Make Over
It appears the urge to make over Susan Boyle’s appearance is just not letting up.
While the subject of cleaning up Susan Boyle’s looks has come up in many interviews, pretty much every one, even Britain’s Got Talent Judge Amanda Holden, thought it was a bad idea at this time. Well, either someone gave her the greenlight, or maybe she just decided to do it herself, but as you can clearly see in the picture to the right, Ms. Boyle is slowly transforming. The hair is looking a bit more kept, the eyebrows have clearly been plucked and the clothes are looking a bit snappier.
I’m not sure how people should feel about this. Part of the charm of Ms. Boyle was that she was such an everyday person, and while these changes aren’t radical, you have to wonder where they will end. If this is the end of it, than fine, we can probably live with it, but any further than this and it’s going to feel like too much I think.

Susan Boyle Mentioned On South Park
Susan Boyle is appearing everywhere, and that even includes South Park, Colorado.
I’ll warn you first thing that the clip contains some coarse language, and could be interrupted as mean spirited. All that being said, I feel the purpose of this site is to bring you as much Susan Boyle news as we can, and since South Park has become such an iconic show, a mention of her on their show is worthy of inclusion in the site.
The set up is that Cartman, the chubby one amongst the four main characters, has decided to run off to Somalia to live the life of a pirate. He thinks it is still the old swashbuckling type of piracy, and he has recruited several other boys from town to go with him. Among this kids is Ike, Kyle’s adopted younger brother from Canada. In this scene, the family has just found Ike’s note about running away, and in it he lists his reasons for doing so.
Again, language and content warning.

Susan Boyle Says The “Never Been Kissed” Comment Was A Joke
GMTV (Good Morning Television) interviewed Susan Boyle this morning, and while most of it was rehashes of other interviews, one new tidbit came out.
I do definitely prefer the UK interviews of Ms. Boyle to the American ones, I think mainly becuase they can actually do them in person as opposed to being via satellite. This morning it was GMTV’s turn, and we learned that the local council has built a new fence in front of her home to help keep the press away. We also heard her singing a bit of “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”, which was nice, but the big moment came when she was asked about her comment on Britain’s Got Talent about having never been kissed. She now says it was a joke, but yu can judge for yourself.

Susan Boyle Sings “Killing Me Softly”
A second song that Susan Boyle recorded in 1999 has surfaced!
Telegraph.co.uk has come into possession of a recording that Susan Boyle made in 1999 of the 1973 hit song “Killing Me Softly” by Roberta Flack. It seems Ms. Boyle made the recording at her own expense to attempt to get on various television and radio talent shows, all of which she was not accepted to. At the time she made the recording she told her friends that she had spent all of her savings on recording thsi song and an earlier demo version of what would become her “Cry Me A River” release on a charity CD.
Personally I don’t think this song fits her as well as the others, but it is still enjoyable.

Susan Boyle Interviewed On Scottish Television
A Scottish television show interview with Susan Boyle where she actually got to leave the house!
Unlike all of her American television appearances where Ms. Boyle has done them from her home, this Scottish television interview actually got her out of the house and in to a new setting. This was done fairly early on in the interviews she’s done, and we’re unsure of the date or what program this was on, but it is still interesting to watch.
Due to the sound quality of the video clip, the uploader was kind enough to also write out a transcript for everyone.
your welcome to the programme Susan. What a time its been for you so far – on Friday you were unknown to the British nation, now youre an internet sentation… 2.5 million people have watched that clip so far. How do you feel?
Gobsmacked, absolutely gobsmacked.
Whats it been like on the streets of Blackburn?
Everybody is wanting my autograph Im telling you its really surreal.
What made you go in for this, because youre a shy person. What made you push yourself forward for this?Basically I wanted to fulfil a wish to my mother, I wanted to do something with my life. Not only that but I think I had a bit more to offer.
What did you do with your singing previously?
Basically in the choir, Ive been in school productions, karaoke – you name it I was on it.
And when people heard you sing karaoke – had they said youve got to go on Britain’s got talent or one of those shows?
Well they did mention it once or twice, and then I said to them well I’ll have a go at it now and see how far I get.
The judges loved you, the audience loved you – were you confident when you stepped out on that stage you would get a good reaction?
I didnt know what kind of reaction I would get – Im being honest with you. But i just got through with it you know. You just get on with it.
Because as your performance progressed everybody started to stand up – could you actually see that past the lights? Could you see that happening?
I couldnt have – cos I had my eyes closed half the time.
Did you get a chance to chat to the judges afterwards?
No, I didnt no. You dont do that anyway – its not professional.
So where is this going to go Susan – are you going to wait and see what happens? How far do you think you can go with this?
Through to the bitter end. But I’ll do something – wee baby steps.
Well absolutely brilliant – we really want our viewers to get behind you. Im sure that everyone watching just thought you were absolutely jaw dropping. Piers Morgan wasnt that nice about Scottish talent, he said there wasnt a lot going on – so youve proved him wrong. So we need the 5.30 viewers and people of scotland to get right behind you, and make sure you go all the way. And you would like that to happen?
I would yes. Thankyou very much.
Susan we wish you the very best – youve got the most amazing voice and your mum would have been very proud of you. Good to see you on the programme.
Thankyou very much.

Oprah Wants Susan Boyle On Her Show
Not all that surprisingly, it appears that Oprah Winfrey wants Susan Boyle on her show at some point in the future.
According to Marc Malkin at E!, Oprah’s producers have expressed interest in Ms. Boyle appearing on the show in Chicago, but the people at Britain’s Got Talent have said that sort of thing won’t be happening until the show is over. Seeing as she was on the first audition episode of the series, she has another six weeks to go before she appears on the live semi-finals episode.
At this point, even if she doesn’t win the series, I think it’s pretty safe to say that Ms. Boyle is still going to have some form of career ahead of her just on the back of her Internet popularity. Will Oprah still want her on the show if that is what happens? I think it’s pretty safe to assume that she will indeed.
Stay tuned for more details.
