Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Does A Sketch About Susan Boyle

Late Night With Jimmy FallonI think we can officially say Susan Boyle has hit the mainstream consensuses when late night talk show hosts are building whole sketches around her.

Last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, they did a sketch built around the premise that every one in the office was angry about something, or something horrible had just happened in their life. As everyone in the office has their life falling apart, one member of the staff is in the conference room and pulls up the video of Susan Boyle singing “I Dreamed A Dream”. As Jimmy storms down the hallway in anger, he hears the song, and it stops him dead in his tracks. He goes back to the room, and he is instantly mesmerized by the song, and forgets all of his troubles.

As the song progresses, more and more staff come into the room, ready to complain about this or that, but as soon as they hear Susan singing, they forget all of their worries. My favorite person coming in has to be the soldier, but I won’t say what he came in to report as I don’t want to ruin it for you. Overall it’s a very cute video, and I’m not even a Jimmy Fallon fan!

Sadly this video won’t play outside of the United States. Sorry, folks!

Susan Boyle Sings “My Heart Will Go On” On Larry King Live

susan boyleLast night Susan Boyle appeared on Larry King Live and wowed us with yet another song.

The tour of US talk shows seems never ending for Ms. Boyle right now, but at least she gets to do all of them from the comfort of her own home!  This time around it was on Larry King Live, and they also brought on Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan to talk about her at the same time.

Some of the stuff with Piers was fascinating, such as him actually apologizing for not treating her with more respect when she first came out on the stage.  It seemed very sincere and heartfelt.  He explained that they had already had a long day with some really horrible acts, and he admitted that he thought she was going to be one of the joke acts that gets sent out to them just to make them suffer.  It was a very sincere, and genuine sounding apology, which Ms. Boyle gladly accepted.  He also asked her out for dinner in London, to which she rather enthusiastically said “yes” to.

There are also some hints from Mr. Morgan that Simon Cowell has indeed signed Ms. Boyle to his record label, though he never spells it out completely.

The only thing about the interview that troubled me some was when Larry King asked what in her life would change due to this, she replied that she would no longer be lonely.  I really, really hope she has some solid, grounded friends around her that will help make sure no one takes advantage of her and her considerable talent.

We have posted both halves of the interview below for you, but if you just want to get to her singing “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, it is in the second video at approximately the 2:25 mark.

Susan Boyle Says “No Comment” To Mail Suitors Question On The Today Show

today show logoYet another TV appearance for Susan Boyle, this time it was on NBC’s The Today Show.

This morning Susan Boyle joined Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira via satellite from her home in Scotland for yet another interview.  This poor woman has to be just about interviewed out at this point!  The nice thing was that before her itnerview, they showed a pre-recorded bit with Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden about the Ms. Boyle’s sudden rise to fame.  The good news is that she says they have no intention of doing a make-over on Ms. Boyle as they don’t want to add that pressure on her.

It’s a good interview, with a nice surprise visit by Paul Potts, the winner of season 1 of Britain’s Got Talent towards the end of it.  He compliments her performance and tells her he thinks she is doing a wonderful job keeping a level head through out this entire ordeal.  If anyone can relate to this, he certainly can.

Here is the video, sorry that it won’t play outside of the USA.  If the player below isn’t working, you can find it here.

Susan Boyle Sings “Cry Me A River”

susan boyleAt long last, another song by 47-year-old Susan Boyle has been uncovered!

Okay, maybe it isn’t “at long last” since she only came to international attention a few days ago, but it is nice to finally have a new song from her!  The Daily Record located a copy of a charity CD that was released in 1999, and only a thousand copies are known to exist. On it, Susan Boyle sings “Cry Me A River”, and let me tell you, not only does she nail another song, but her style is totally different than it was on “I Dreamed A Dream“. Where that performance sounded like any Broadway singer, this one sounds like she would be right at home in some hazy jazz club in a basement space in New York City.

It’s interesting that while she is a powerful singer, you have to wonder if anyone would have taken note of her if not for her physical appearance and personal history.  There is no question she is talented, but without those other aspects, would people be rallying around her like this?  Honestly, who cares, she is just a joy to listen to, and I don’t care what she looks like!

We have included two different copies of the song on the off chance either one of them gets pulled over copyright concerns.

The second copy is from a website in Japan.

Susan Boyle Interview On CBS’ The Early Show

cbs early show logoAs promised, Susan Boyle was on The Early Show today, and she received a rather special treat.

Susan Boyle began the rounds of American talk shows today by appearing on The Early Show on CBS. I believe this is a first for any contestant on Britain’s Got Talent, but could they have started off with anyone better?  The only things that seemed to have changed on Ms. Boyle since she sang “I Dreamed A Dream” was that her clothes seemed a bit more put together, and her hair was more kept looking.

The interview was a nice one, and you could tell she is really trying to soak everything that has happened to her thus far, but who could deal with being this big of an over night sensation?  We also did learn some more about her, such as she was living with her mother until she recently passed away.  She had then taken a few years off from singing while she mourned, and now she is back and thought she would give the competition a try.  I think it is safe to say she did more than just give it a try!

In the second half of the interview, CBS put Ms. Boyle on the phone with Patti Lupone, one of the biggest names in Broadway, to see what she thought of Ms. Boyle’s rendition of a song she had sung many years ago.  Well, like almost everyone else in the world, Ms. Lupone cried.  Considering she was the first person to sing this song when the show first opened, that’s quite a compliment.

She does sing “I Dreamed A Dream” again (without music to boot), but it isn’t the whole song.

We’ve posted the videos below for you, but we aren’t sure they are visible outside of the USA, sorry if they aren’t.

Jay Leno Impersonates Susan Boyle For A Sketch

tonight show logoEven more evidence that Susan Boyle is well on her way to becoming a household name the world over.

On tonight’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Mr. Leno did a short sketch based around the idea that he may be related to Susan Boyle due to the fact that his mother comes from the same part of Scotland as Ms. Boyle.  To prove his theory, he showed the now infamous clip of Ms. Boyle singing on Britain’s Got Talent, but all the shots of Ms. Boyle were replaced with Mr. Leno dressed up as her.

Not exactly high brow comedy, and some people have taken offense to the sketch, but that is late night comedy sketches for you.  I personally didn’t find the sketch offensive, just extremely predictable, as is much of what passes for comedy on The Tonight Show during Jay Leno’s tenure as the host.

Oh well, to each their own.  As always, the video is embedded below.

Susan Boyle On Good Morning America

Good Morning America logoYet another American television interview with the Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation.

Diane Sawyer of Good Morning America was yet another American teevision presenter to sit down and interview from her home in Scotland this morning.  While it covered some of the familiar ground we have seen in other interviews (do these hosts never say “Okay, she’s answered this 50 times, lets ask something else?”), Ms. Sawyer did seem to focus a bit more on Ms. Boyle’s family.  Did she think her parents were looking down on her?  Who were all the cards in the background from?  So it made it feel a bit more intimate than other interviews have.

Susan Boyle To Be On The Early Show

susan boyleWell, that didn’t take long to happen! Susan Boyle is about to be interviewed by American television shows!

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Ms. Boyle will be appearing on the CBS morning show, The Early Show this morning.  She will be singing from her kitchen in Scotland during the performance, but no hint yet on what she will be singing.  Hopefully it will be different than her “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables she performed on Britain’s Got Talent the other day.

As soon as we can locate a video of the interview, we will be bringing it to you right here on this blog.  Hopefully it won’t take us long, but  we implore you to stay tuned for it!

England Channel 5 Covers The Susan Boyle Story

susan boyleChannel 5 in the UK does a story on how Susan Boyle is effecting everyone who hears her sing.

Unlike most stories about Susan Boyle, this one doesn’t feature her being interviewed, and there is no one from Britain’s Got Talent on it… kind of odd, honestly. It does make mention of Demi Moore’s message on Twitter which was how I actually first learned of Susan Boyle back on April 12th, though.  Considering the number of followers she and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, have on that site, I would hazard to guess that is how a lot of people first came to learn of Ms. Boyle and her amazing singing voice.

All in all, still an interesting video to watch, especially when they show the video to the East End cast of Les Miserables.

Susan Boyle Interviewed By BBC Reporting Scotland

bbc logoEven the BBC has gotten in on the Susan Boyle express.

This is possibly one of the shortest interviews with Ms. Boyle, coming in at just under 2 minutes, but it’s nice because it shows her going about her normal day a little bit.  There is a spot of oddness where they have her singing her now famous “I Dreamed A Dream” song, but when the camera pans back you see she is singing it into a mirror.  Not sure what that is all about, but at least it was something original in one of these interviews!
