Oprah Snags Her Susan Boyle Interview

oprah winfrey and susan boyleOprah is getting her wish sooner than anyone thought she would!

As we reported last month, Oprah Winfrey wants to interview Susan Boyle, but it looked like she was going to have to wait until Britain’s Got Talent was over to get that wish.  Now, according to Entertainment Tonight, Simon Cowell is coming on Oprah’s show to address the rumors he is leaving American Idol, and also to showcase Susan Boyle amongst other talents he has helped discover.

Make sure to check your local listings for the episode to air Monday May 11th entitled ”The Oprah Winfrey Show: The World’s Got Talent.”  There is no word if Ms. Boyle will sing, but I can’t imagine that she won’t.  And, yes, she will be appearing from her home in Scotland, just like she does in about 90% of here television appearances.  Oh well, maybe we’ll finally see Cuddles.

Susan Boyle Sings “My Heart Will Go On” On Larry King Live

susan boyleLast night Susan Boyle appeared on Larry King Live and wowed us with yet another song.

The tour of US talk shows seems never ending for Ms. Boyle right now, but at least she gets to do all of them from the comfort of her own home!  This time around it was on Larry King Live, and they also brought on Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan to talk about her at the same time.

Some of the stuff with Piers was fascinating, such as him actually apologizing for not treating her with more respect when she first came out on the stage.  It seemed very sincere and heartfelt.  He explained that they had already had a long day with some really horrible acts, and he admitted that he thought she was going to be one of the joke acts that gets sent out to them just to make them suffer.  It was a very sincere, and genuine sounding apology, which Ms. Boyle gladly accepted.  He also asked her out for dinner in London, to which she rather enthusiastically said “yes” to.

There are also some hints from Mr. Morgan that Simon Cowell has indeed signed Ms. Boyle to his record label, though he never spells it out completely.

The only thing about the interview that troubled me some was when Larry King asked what in her life would change due to this, she replied that she would no longer be lonely.  I really, really hope she has some solid, grounded friends around her that will help make sure no one takes advantage of her and her considerable talent.

We have posted both halves of the interview below for you, but if you just want to get to her singing “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, it is in the second video at approximately the 2:25 mark.

Susan Boyle Interview On CBS’ The Early Show

cbs early show logoAs promised, Susan Boyle was on The Early Show today, and she received a rather special treat.

Susan Boyle began the rounds of American talk shows today by appearing on The Early Show on CBS. I believe this is a first for any contestant on Britain’s Got Talent, but could they have started off with anyone better?  The only things that seemed to have changed on Ms. Boyle since she sang “I Dreamed A Dream” was that her clothes seemed a bit more put together, and her hair was more kept looking.

The interview was a nice one, and you could tell she is really trying to soak everything that has happened to her thus far, but who could deal with being this big of an over night sensation?  We also did learn some more about her, such as she was living with her mother until she recently passed away.  She had then taken a few years off from singing while she mourned, and now she is back and thought she would give the competition a try.  I think it is safe to say she did more than just give it a try!

In the second half of the interview, CBS put Ms. Boyle on the phone with Patti Lupone, one of the biggest names in Broadway, to see what she thought of Ms. Boyle’s rendition of a song she had sung many years ago.  Well, like almost everyone else in the world, Ms. Lupone cried.  Considering she was the first person to sing this song when the show first opened, that’s quite a compliment.

She does sing “I Dreamed A Dream” again (without music to boot), but it isn’t the whole song.

We’ve posted the videos below for you, but we aren’t sure they are visible outside of the USA, sorry if they aren’t.

47-Year-Old Susan Boyle Wows The Judges On Britain’s Got Talent

susan boyleSusan Boyle, a 47-year-old woman from West Lothian in Scotland, is sweeping the Internet by storm with her singing abilities!

April 11th was the premiere episode of Britain’s Got Talent, and even with only one episode aired, people are already sure that a certain Ms.  Susan Boyle could stand to win the whole thing.  However, that certainly wasn’t their attitude when she first walked out on to the stage.

In the behind-the-scenes footage before she took the stage, we learned that Ms. Boyle lives alone with her cat Pebbles, and that she has never even been kissed.  Once she finally hit the stage, Ms. Boyle awkwardly introduced herself to the three judges, Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden, and stated that she aspired to sing like the great Elaine Page.  After some eye-rolling from audience members, and even some obvious skepticism from the judges, she began to sing, and you can see the results below.
