Fame Begins To Weigh On Susan Boyle
It seems that the weight of fame is beginning to weigh on Susan Boyle.
According to the Sun, the finalists of Britain’s Got Talent are staying at the Wembley Plaza Hotel in North London, and that Ms. Boyle has had a few rather large outburts that involved her cursing and ranting.
The first came during the performance of 12-year-old Shaheen Jafargholi. Ms. Boyle was in the hotel bar watching the show, and as Shaheen began to perform, a bus load of tourists asked for her autograph. She asked them to wait until he finished, but as he finished, it seems Ms. Boyle took offense to judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan heaping praise on the youngster. She reportedly stood up, yelled “F*** off!”, three the “V” sign (the British version of the American middle finger) and stormed off. All of this was said to be done in eye sight and hearing range of the young contender’s family and friends. Ms. Boyle has denied this story thus far.
The second event came just yesterday afternoon when Ms. Boyle began screaming at some guests in the hotel lobby that she claimed were trying to “wind her up”. This incident got the policemen stationed at the hotel who had a talk with Ms. Boyle outside on the sidewalk. Witnesses claim you could see she was still quite livid as she was talking with the police, and repeatedly would point and stab her finger.
This morning Piers Morgan took to his own blog and came to Ms. Boyle’s defense.
The pressure from sudden global success can be enormous.
Everywhere you go, people recognise you and want a piece of you – an autograph, a photo, a quick song, a chat to their mum on a mobile phone.
You can’t got out any more without being mobbed in the streets. You can’t nip down the supermarket for a pint of milk or go to the paper shop.
That pressure, too, can take its toll on close family and friends. They don’t know quite how to deal with it either. Suddenly they’re all caught up in this insane, relentless goldfish bowl.
All the fun of being propelled into international acclaim starts to disappear. And you start to feel jittery, self-conscious, paranoid, and fractious.
Then imagine, too, having all this go on when you are days away from the final of a competition that can make or break your career and your life.
A competition that everyone expects you to win, a fact that in itself piles on even more pressure.
This is exactly the situation that Susan Boyle now finds herself in.
Mr. Morgan goes on for quite a bit longer about his feelings on this situation, and he says that the pressure has gotten to a point that Ms. Boyle has considered quitting the competition.
We here at SusanBoyleFandom.com have actually worried since the beginning that all of this might end up being too much for her. No one can take this sort of sudden attention without it beginning to weigh on them. Mr. Morgan mentions how some blogs have said nasty things about these reported incidents, and I have to say you won’t find any of those here. Sure it would be nice if they hadn’t happened, but it is honestly understandable with the amount of pressure being put on her.
We wish Ms. Boyle nothing but the best in the upcoming final round, and we hope she will stick it out.
